
The Costin Institute for Osteopathic Medical Educators is an academic
program specifically designed for Osteopathic Medical personnel currently involved in teaching,
academic management as well as those aspiring to a career in medical academe.
The Costin Institute was established at Midwestern University in 2003
through endowed contribution from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. It is named in honor
of J. Richard Costin, D.O., one of the osteopathic profession's leading surgeons and teachers
of general surgery. Dr. Costin is a 1949 graduate of Midwestern University's Chicago College of
Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM). Dr.
Costin served as chairman of the board of CCOM and participated in the
transition of a single college into a full university with five colleges.
